Broadcast & Media Technology — IBC 2026

SEYDRA Technology Radar

SEYDRA tracks developments across broadcast, IP media, cloud and AI to understand how future media infrastructure should be observed and operated.

Curated references reviewed . IBC labels identify verified event context; established technologies are not new IBC announcements.

Industry technologies shown here are not necessarily implemented SEYDRA integrations. Each item shows SEYDRA's current status. Radar status describes product readiness, not live operational health.

What the SEYDRA status labels mean
Implemented
Actually functioning and verified in SEYDRA for the stated scope.
Foundation Implemented
A relevant SEYDRA capability exists; the complete technology or vendor integration does not.
Architecture Ready
SEYDRA's architecture deliberately accommodates the concept; implementation or integration is incomplete.
Planned
An accepted roadmap direction; the capability is not implemented.
Research / Radar
Being tracked, with no implementation commitment yet.

Software-Defined Media Functions

Industry reference: NVIDIA Holoscan for Media / MXL

SEYDRA statusArchitecture Ready
Industry Direction
NVIDIA describes Holoscan for Media and Media Exchange Layer (MXL) as a way for software media functions to share accelerated infrastructure and exchange live video, audio and data. Its IBC announcement lists a demo at EBU Stand 10.D21.
Why it matters
An encoder or graphics function may share compute with other workloads. Operators need to understand both the function and its host dependencies.
SEYDRA Current Capability
Canonical systems already distinguish host, application, media function, input and output layers. Holoscan, MXL, container discovery and GPU collection are not integrated.
SEYDRA Future Direction
Extend that model to Host → Runtime / Container → Media Function → Media Input / Output, with GPU / Compute dependencies, without treating every function as a physical chassis.

AI-Assisted Operational Troubleshooting

Industry reference: TVU MediaMesh Observe / MediaHub

SEYDRA statusFoundation Implemented
Industry Direction
TVU announced limited availability of MediaMesh Build, Operate and Observe for IBC 2026, at Hall 5.B86. It describes agentic troubleshooting as a MediaHub technology demonstration, with further MediaMesh observability integration in development.
Why it matters
Investigations need context across media connections, software processes and infrastructure, with conclusions limited by the available evidence.
SEYDRA Current Capability
Ask SEYDRA packages systems, services, incidents, topology, evidence, coverage and provenance, preserving Unknown / Not Monitored boundaries. Public evidence is simulated; hosted AI depends on configuration. No TVU integration exists.
SEYDRA Future Direction
Deepen evidence-grounded investigation as verified telemetry becomes available, keeping hypotheses separate from confirmed failures and operational actions.

Hybrid Broadcast Infrastructure

Industry reference: Grass Valley AMPP / integrated live production

SEYDRA statusFoundation Implemented
Industry Direction
Grass Valley's IBC 2026 showcase combines dedicated production hardware, AMPP software applications and partner technologies across on-premises, edge and cloud workflows, at Booth 9.A01.
Why it matters
Facilities need to evolve in stages while retaining working production systems. Their operational model must accommodate mixed SDI, IP, software and cloud environments.
SEYDRA Current Capability
Facility Multi-View derives distinct service, signal, asset and infrastructure views from one canonical System inventory in the simulated demo. No Grass Valley integration or ST 2110 collection exists.
SEYDRA Future Direction
Attach verified evidence from mixed environments to the same systems and explicit relationships, without assuming a single transport or replacing the facility model.
Media IPEstablished technology

IP Media Fabric

Industry reference: SMPTE ST 2110 / AMWA NMOS / PTP (ST 2059)

SEYDRA statusPlanned
Industry Direction
ST 2110 carries synchronized video, audio and ancillary streams over managed IP networks using PTP timing. NMOS provides discovery, registration and connection management for media devices.
Why it matters
Media delivery, clock health and connection state become separate operational concerns. Network reachability alone cannot establish media health.
SEYDRA Current Capability
Configured timing, network and control relationships provide attachment points. No ST 2110, NMOS or PTP discovery, collection or protocol engine is implemented.
SEYDRA Future Direction
Represent Sender, Receiver, Flow, Subscription, Grandmaster, Clock, Offset and Media Interface as broadcast-native entities and evidence tied to existing systems.
Media IPEstablished technology

Media Path Resilience

Industry reference: SMPTE ST 2022-7 / AJA BRIDGE LIVE IP

SEYDRA statusPlanned
Industry Direction
AJA documents ST 2022-7 hitless redundancy for ST 2110 and MPEG-TS in BRIDGE LIVE IP. Redundant paths can preserve the service when one path fails.
Why it matters
Loss of protection and loss of programme output require different operator responses, even when both involve a failed component.
SEYDRA Current Capability
Services distinguish primary-path state from supporting dependency risk and allow redundant memberships. No protection assessment, ST 2022-7 monitoring, automatic failover or AJA integration exists.
SEYDRA Future Direction
With verified protected-output evidence, distinguish Path A: Healthy; Path B: Critical; Service: Operational; Resilience: Degraded. This is a future assessment example, not a current reading.
AssuranceEstablished technology

Media & Data Assurance

Industry reference: Media expectations / TAG monitoring layers

SEYDRA statusFoundation Implemented
Industry Direction
TAG documents monitoring across video, audio, transport, OTT, captions and SCTE signaling, including manifest evidence. Assurance extends beyond signal presence to whether expected content and data are arriving correctly.
Why it matters
Expected video, audio, metadata, captions, markers, format, manifests and service data can fail independently of a reachable host.
SEYDRA Current Capability
Network/Data Assurance evaluates configured evidence, freshness, provenance, verification and fallback state. The public demo is simulated. Live network/data collectors, media probes, output capture and TAG integration are not implemented.
SEYDRA Future Direction
Attach verified probe and content-expectation evidence to service outputs, preserving the distinction between data risk and confirmed output impact.

AI Inside the Live Workflow

Industry reference: NVIDIA AI for Media / content localization

SEYDRA statusResearch / Radar
Industry Direction
NVIDIA's IBC 2026 material describes live video understanding, enhancement and localization workflows. Its event page lists localization exhibits at AI Media Stand 5.D80 and Chyron Stand 7.A23.
Why it matters
AI processing introduces runtime, compute and output-quality dependencies that operators may need to observe alongside other media functions.
SEYDRA Current Capability
SEYDRA has generic media-function layers. It does not perform or collect evidence from AI localization, live video understanding or NVIDIA AI media functions.
SEYDRA Future Direction
Explore observing Input → Model / Runtime → GPU → Function State → Output → Quality / Assurance, without requiring SEYDRA to perform the AI processing itself.
AIIBC 2026 session

Private & Sovereign AI

Industry reference: IBC Future Tech / Dell Technologies and NVIDIA

SEYDRA statusResearch / Radar
Industry Direction
IBC's 12 September Future Tech session with Dell Technologies and NVIDIA explores open-weight models running on infrastructure media organizations control, including privacy, customization and governance.
Why it matters
Operational topology, logs, media and incidents can be sensitive. Some facilities may need control over where models run and how data is handled.
SEYDRA Current Capability
Ask SEYDRA has hosted-provider and local fallback paths. The fallback is not a customer-hosted model; sovereign or on-premises AI inference is not implemented.
SEYDRA Future Direction
Research how the provider architecture could evolve toward hosted, customer-hosted and on-premises AI, with explicit data boundaries. No implementation commitment yet.
